Does the XM WX Service package price really include EVERYTHING? 

Yes. The service package includes the following:

• NEXRAD Radar (High-resolution radar for the entire U.S.- updated every 5 minutes)
• Operational NEXRAD Radar Status
• Precipitation Type Surface
• Storm Cell Identification and Tracking with 15-minute storm path projection
• Surface observations
• County Warnings
• Lightning
• Surface Analysis (high and low pressure centers and frontal systems with current and forecasted data out to 48 hours)
• Storm Tops
• Winds at the Surface and Winds Aloft
• Sea surface state information
  • Waves
  • Sea Temperature
  • Buoy data
• Hurricane Track with Hurricane, Tropical Storm and Tropical Depression Tracking
• Areas of limited visibility
• Wind Shear Detection with gate-to-gate shear denoting the most Dangerous Twisting of the Winds

Do you offer Customer Support? 

Yes, telephone customer support is included.

Does the service include XM Radio entertainment programming? 

No.  That service is completely independent of Mobile Threat Net.  We are simply using XM Radio's high power satellites and technology to transmit the weather data to your Mobile Threat Net system.

XM WX Antenna

Is it necessary to "point" the antenna in a certain direction?

No.  As long as it has a clear line of sight to the sky it will lock-on and receive data.

Can I put my antenna on my dashboard or on a windowsill? 

Some people do, but to ensure maximum signal reception, proper placement of the magnetic roof-mount antenna is recommended. If you use your system indoors, the antenna should be kept outside.

Will I lose my signal in heavy rain? 

No.  Rain fade occurs with "dish" systems, not with Mobile Threat Net.

If I only want to use my system indoors, can I get an "office antenna"? 

Yes, small side-mount antennas are available for permanent installations.  Call for specifications and pricing.

GPS Unit

Can I get a discount if I don't want a GPS unit? 

Yes.  Your purchase price will be reduced by the price of the GPS unit.

Will the GPS unit I already own work with the system? 

The software was designed with multiple GPS protocols in mind; however, there are too many variables for us to know the answer.

Equipment Questions

Is there a warranty on the equipment? 

Yes.  The XM weather data receiver comes with a full 1-year warranty.

What if I don't have an available USB port on my computer? 

USB expanders (same concept as power strips) are available for approximately $15 to $20 at a number of computer/electronics supply stores.

Multiple Users

Can I use the system on more than one computer? 

Yes, but only on one computer at a time.

Can I put the system on my network? 

No, each user must have his own licensed version of the software and a unique weather data receiver.
